a little about yours truly...

Born into a Southern family from old cotton money and raised on a plantation, I spent my summers sipping sweet tea from a rocking chair on the front porch...

(Just kidding.)

My upbringing wasn’t quite that eccentric, and even though I am from South Louisiana, I don’t like sweet tea (unless there's lemonade and whiskey mixed in with it).

I did, however, grow up in the country and was raised in a world of insurance. Family came first, and I was always encouraged to follow my dreams—as long as I worked in the family business 97% of the time.

Still, being the black sheep I was born to be, I’ve always sought out the next crazy adventure in life—traveling when I don’t have the money, riding horses, swimming with sharks, continuing to buy plants when I know I’ll kill them (OK, that’s not crazy, it’s just a sin), and, of course, writing books.

how it all began...

The simple answer, I love books! One of the greatest pleasures in life is getting lost in a story created by someone who, at one point or another, was just like me.

The idea for Black Horse came to me during a road trip from Louisiana to Oklahoma. I kept thinking things like, What if there was a book about this? or A character like that would be really cool! Eventually, I thought, Maybe I could just write my own story about this and that... So I did!

I didn’t even know I was capable of writing a book, much less publishing it when I was done. After a little bit of research into self-publishing, I began thinking, Hey, maybe I can actually do this.

I put all those ideas I’d been carrying around onto paper and The Christmas Pickle and Black Horse were born...

And I’m nowhere near done yet...
